Ive been found wanting , searching seeking to know you , TRuth...
outside of the idols man has created of YOu,
rachelhf5286: ive been thinking
rachelhf5286: about some stuff from the divine romance
dauriala: yea?
rachelhf5286: and i want to see what you think
rachelhf5286: i read the first part to angelina and sara last night
rachelhf5286: because i thought it was so amazing
rachelhf5286: and then we talked about it
rachelhf5286: and angelina was saying that she didnt agree with him portraing God as having the emotion of loneliness
rachelhf5286: or lacking anything
rachelhf5286: she was saying that piper says that God is perfectly content in the Godhead
rachelhf5286: so if this is true
rachelhf5286: i pose these questions
rachelhf5286: is it true that he desires us
dauriala: yes
rachelhf5286: and Jesus desires his bridegroom
rachelhf5286: and all the stuff preached at kc
dauriala: yes
rachelhf5286: see i brought that up r
achelhf5286: and she doesnt agree with some of the stuff they say
rachelhf5286: i didnt get into what she doesnt agree on r
achelhf5286: but i was attempting to understand
rachelhf5286: whacha think
rachelhf5286: how God is perfectly content in the Godhead but still has emotions of desiring and passion towards people
rachelhf5286: its like i dont doubt his love for us
rachelhf5286: but its like things from ihop portray Jesus not lacking anything , but with this insationable passion for his bride
dauriala: hmm
dauriala: that is a good thought evoking thing
dauriala: maybe if youthink about this paradox
dauriala: adam was complete w/ his rib but not actually complete until god took that rib out to form eve leaving him uncompletely completed
dauriala: ha
rachelhf5286: true
rachelhf5286: yeah
dauriala: i mean nothing really can make sense to our minds why God would desire us
dauriala: but i think it is like we are complete unto ourselves w/ God but we are complemented and have desire for our spouse..just like God desires his bride
rachelhf5286: right so with that i was thinking is it impossible for God to have feelings of loneliness
rachelhf5286: bc if he lacked nothing , then why would he desire
rachelhf5286: for hurt or broken people
rachelhf5286: or does he just will for us to be saved
rachelhf5286: and its no emotions attached to it
dauriala: well yea i mean if youthink about it this way
rachelhf5286: hmm
dauriala: i desire for my family to get saved but that doesnt mean that if they dont then i am not complete
dauriala: right?
rachelhf5286: yes
dauriala: b/c i am complete myself only by God
dauriala: God is God which makes him complete in himself
dauriala: not by us which proves that he doesnt need us but desires for our compliment
dauriala: like it says the wife compliments her husband
rachelhf5286: right

Here is my two cents:

God is utterly and totally complete and content within himself. If we ever fall into the trap of thinking that God is "incomplete" without you or me, we immediatly place ourselves in very dangerous theological waters. The logical conclusion ends with us being God and God worshiping us... The safety I have found in this issue is that the Bible is clear that God loves us. I acknowlede this continually. However, I remind myself that God is utmost in his own affections. All things, including his love for me, is for his glory. Romans 11.36 puts it this way, "For from him and through him and to him are all things. To him be glory forever."

This is a pretty weighty issue that is worthy of much meditation and invistigation. I spent months working through it and continually have to think about who God is and who am I in relation to that. In all things he is primary and I am secondary.

...but thats my two cents
